Worth knowing

Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

DuraFlex Chimney Inspection in Fort Lauderdale: What to Know First

We inspect DuraFlex chimney systems in Fort Lauderdale as an independent service provider, and a standard Level 2 inspection with camera typically runs $249 to $399 depending on chimney height and access. Most DuraFlex inspections take 60 to 90 minutes, and you get a written report with photos the same day. If you own a home in Fort Lauderdale with a DuraFlex liner, you’re in the right place. Call (754) 354-1430 to schedule, and we’ll give you a firm written price before we show up.

This page is for homeowners who have a DuraFlex liner already installed and want to know two things: is it still safe, and what does it cost to keep it that way. We’re not a manufacturer hotline, and we don’t sell liners we don’t inspect. We’re the crew that gets on the roof, runs the camera, and tells you what’s actually there in plain words.

How DuraFlex Products Fail – and How We Fix Them

DuraFlex liners are solid products, but they age like everything else in a Fort Lauderdale chimney. Here’s what we actually see on inspection calls.

  • Corrosion at the tee connection. On DuraFlex 316Ti and 304 stainless liners, the tee at the base of the flue takes the most abuse. Condensation and creosote acids collect there, and we routinely find pinholes at the seam where the tee body meets the liner stub. The fix is usually a tee replacement with the matching DuraFlex component, not a whole new liner. We camera it, show you the photos, and you decide.
  • Liner distortion from over-crimping. DuraFlex is a flexible liner, and when an installer over-crimps the nose during install, the corrugations flatten and create a weak fold. We see this most often in the DuraFlex DFC series used in masonry chimneys. The fold traps creosote and creates a hot spot. If we catch it early, we can sometimes re-round the section; if it’s advanced, we quote a replacement section with an OEM DuraFlex connector.
  • Mortar squeeze blocking the liner. In Fort Lauderdale’s older masonry chimneys, installers sometimes run a DuraFlex liner down a flue with old parge coat and mortar squeeze between the liner and the chimney wall. That squeeze hardens, and over time it can compress the liner body and create an offset. The symptom is a lazy draft and smoke staining at the fireplace opening. We identify it on camera and quote targeted remediation, not a scare-tactic full rebuild.
  • Cap failure from coastal air. DuraFlex caps are stainless, but Fort Lauderdale’s salt air and afternoon thunderstorms combine to punish fasteners and screen mesh. We replace more DuraFlex top-mounted caps than any other component because the screen mesh corrodes and lets embers or rain through. A crown-mounted mesh screen is a cheaper fix than a cap, but we show you the difference before we write the quote.
  • Seam separation on multi-story runs. Long vertical runs of DuraFlex aluminum liners, like the DuraFlex DFC aluminum used for gas appliances, can develop seam separation at the coupler bands if the chimney moves even a quarter inch. Fort Lauderdale’s water table shifts, and the chimney moves with it. The symptom is a faint rattling during wind gusts. We secure the section and reseat the coupling, then re-camera to confirm.

Our DuraFlex Chimney Inspection Process

Here’s how a DuraFlex inspection goes from the first phone call to the final report.

  1. 1
Call and price. You call (754) 354-1430. A live person answers, asks the square footage, chimney height, and what you’re seeing. You get a written price for the inspection before we schedule.
  2. 2
Arrival and setup. Our background-checked, uniformed tech arrives inside the window. Drop cloths go down, the camera rig comes out, and we do a visual on the firebox and damper first.
  3. 3
Camera run. We push the camera through the DuraFlex liner, noting every seam, band, and connection. If it’s a Level 2 real estate inspection, we go further and document the full length.
  4. 4
Diagnosis and parts decision. If we find something, we show you the screen and the photos. If a part needs replacing, we quote OEM DuraFlex or a quality aftermarket equivalent like HeatShield or Gelco, depending on warranty and fit.
  5. 5
Test and cleanup. We run a draft check, then clean everything so you’d never know we were there. No creosote dust on the mantel, no tools left behind.
  6. 6
Written report. You get the inspection report with photos in writing. If a repair is needed, you get the written price with scope. The number on the invoice is the number you approved.

What DuraFlex Chimney Inspection Costs in Fort Lauderdale

A Level 1 inspection on a DuraFlex liner in Fort Lauderdale runs $149 to $199. That’s the visual check when nothing has changed and you just want confirmation the liner is intact. A Level 2 camera inspection, the one you need before a sale or after a storm, runs $249 to $399 depending on chimney height and access. A Level 3 inspection, which involves partial demolition to access hidden sections, starts around $800 and we only recommend it when the camera evidence points to a structural problem we can’t see otherwise.

What moves the price: chimney height, roof pitch, and whether the liner has been previously modified. Multi-story condos and high-rise units up the coast take longer and cost more. We write every price before we start, so there’s no mystery line item at the end. Call (754) 354-1430 for a free estimate.

Why Fort Lauderdale Homeowners Call Flint Chimney Co Fort Lauderdale for DuraFlex Work

The Garrison Standard is how we run every job. It’s a written price before work starts, a written guarantee for one full year, and a free second visit if a covered repair fails. That’s not marketing language; it’s the code we’ve followed since 2002. Our techs know DuraFlex because we’ve been running cameras through those liners for years, and when a part isn’t available or a warranty situation gets tricky, we work with HeatShield and Gelco as backup lines. Hank Delano built this company on one idea: tell the homeowner exactly what you found, exactly what it costs, then do the work clean. That’s it.
